Family & Child Empowerment Services (FACES) SF provides families who live and work in San Francisco with high-quality early childhood education and enrichment; job support, training, and placement; and comprehensive family support services and referrals. Our mission is to empower families who live and work in San Francisco to transform their futures through educational and economic opportunities.  

Position Overview:

Alongside our new CEO, and in alignment with a bold strategic growth plan, the VP  External Engagement will design and lead our development, communications, and marketing work. Our ideal candidate is a dynamic, media-savvy storyteller who is able to develop and implement fundraising, branding, and communications strategies that increase the impact of our programs, both within and beyond the San Francisco community. We seek a candidate who can enlist advocates and funders for our mission, connect with and elevate the voices of community leaders and families, and execute a plan that will help FACES SF to create a more equitable city where all families have the support they need to thrive.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A seasoned fundraising leader with 10+ years nonprofit or social impact fundraising experience; local Bay Area fundraising experience a plus
  • Experience building a development strategy that thoughtfully blends branding, marketing, and fundraising to achieving big organizational goals
  • Strong knowledge base around — and fundamental adherence to — the principles, ethics, tools, networks, and best practices of equitable and impact-driven fundraising, including the strategic cultivation and integration of governmental, foundation, corporate, and individual funders
  • Highly proficient communication skills, including social media, large-group in-person and virtual presentations, donor and other stakeholder decks, all-staff trainings, and effective 1:1 and team communication
  • Ability to collaborate and connect with a wide range of program donors, participants, staff, and other key stakeholders
  • Strong alignment with and commitment to our mission; and a willingness to joyfully and humbly reflect and grow in pursuit of that mission
