VP, Operations and Growth

Organizational Overview:

Family & Child Empowerment Services (FACES) SF provides families who live and work in San Francisco with high-quality early childhood education and enrichment; job support, training, and placement; and comprehensive family support services and referrals. Our mission is to empower working families in San Francisco to transform their futures through evidence-based educational and economic opportunities.  

Position Overview:

The VP, Operations & Growth will oversee all of our operations, IT,  new business, and human resources teams, structures, and systems. Reporting to the CEO, and in alignment with a bold strategic growth plan, the VP will ensure that FACES SF can attract and develop great talent, support the operational growth of our programs, manage key strategic projects, and provide our staff and families with a world-class user experience, every day. 

We seek a strategic systems leader and skilled project manager who is passionate about our mission, skilled at building relationships, and focused on leading teams toward best-in-class performance. We also seek someone who is eager for personal and professional growth — we expect to expand our service offerings, including fee-for-service programs and other new businesses that support our nonprofit — so a roll-up-your-sleeves, entrepreneurial mindset is essential!

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A seasoned operational or business leader with 10-15 years of operational oversight and team management, likely including human resources; health and safety; facilities; business development; contracting; IT; and other operational areas — local Bay Area experience is a plus but not required.
  • A deep understanding of best practices in terms of operational oversight and risk management, whether that relates to vendor and contract management, crisis response, health and safety, and both digital and physical security. 
  • Strong knowledge base around — and fundamental adherence to — the principles, tools, and best practices of evidence-driven project management and team leadership; experience leading teams in alignment with annual performance goals is required.
  • Knowledge of and experience in creating business models; analyzing market trends to assess product-market fit; launching new businesses; expanding or growing into new facilities; and assessing and adapting business plans as needed.
  • Highly proficient communication skills, including social media, large-group in-person and virtual presentations, all-staff trainings, and effective 1:1 and team communication.
  • Ability to collaborate and connect with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A deep commitment to aligning all our operational practices to our values, especially around equity, inclusion, and belonging for all our stakeholders.
  • Strong passion for our mission and a desire to humbly reflect and grow in pursuit of that mission.
